Thanks for the Memoirs Book Club will focus on memoirs from authors representing a variety of backgrounds and lived experiences. We will meet on the 2nd Thursday at 10am, every other month, starting in February. This month we're reading Heavy: An American Memoir by Kiese Laymon. Discussions will be facilitated by Mary Sussman, who previously led Shakespeare and Company (2003-2005), dedicated to the works of William Shakespeare; and League Café, dedicated to books about racial equity (2018-2023).

Head of Youth Services

I’ve been the Head of Youth Services at the Whitefish Bay Public Library since 2013, but I've been passionate about youth services since a summer spent working at my hometown library with my childhood librarians after college. My favorite aspects of being a youth services librarian are connecting with kids and their families and caregivers, advocating for each child’s reading interests, and creating fun, educational, and innovative programming for all ages. While most of my time is spent reading children’s and young adult literature, I also try to sneak some adult non-fiction, and if I'm not reading, I love listening to music and watching sports.

That’s our philosophy at the Whitefish Bay Public Library, anyway. We believe that everything that we do, we do to make a difference in someone’s life. Creating connections. Building community. Collecting stories. Sure, we have books, but we’re SO much more.
